Hoping someone can help - I read a book about two years ago that I loved and was going to recommend it to someone but can't remember the title or author.
The book was about 2 men who tried to escape from occupied Germany. They trained (swimming) and went to a border town and ended up taking a night ferry on the river. They jumped in, and only one made it across, but he ended up going further than he thought and was captured. He spent years in prison camps, and eventually escaped, running barefoot through snow-covered mountains until he finally made it to the border of Switzerland and was free.
Anyone recognize this and know the title/author?
