'Lil bit, yup.

It's very awesome. If given the opportunity, it's what I make everyone listen to at work. :D They mostly hate when I have control of the music station:cool: .
 
I LOVE emo, punk, goth, metal, hardcore, symphonic metal, and rock music.

I don't know how anyone can like rap or country. >.< That's the worst stuff I've ever heard! I really don't like 80s hair bands either. To each their own, right?
 
Taking Back Sunday, Jimmy Eat World & Funeral For A Friend are what I associate the term 'emo' with, a bit heavy with 'emotional' lyrics, mixed with screaming and hair over thier eyes :p

Of course I could be completely wrong, as im quite ignorant to 'emo' and am just going along with what the stereotype is. It seems bands like The Smiths and Radiohead get called 'emo' too these days, which is wrong of course! :p

I can agree with the hair over the eyes. If that's the case though, wouldn't emo have started many years ago???
 
Well not really, it seems more and more genres/sub-genres are made each day. What them 'emo' bands have all got in common (apart from thier music is similiar) is they all came out at relatively the same time, so they get labeled just as 'grunge' and 'britpop' bands have.

Ahhh. True. Kinda like NWOBHM...all the hair bands around that time ;)

Emo, as I define it, is much like punk or alternative rock except screaming and depressing lyrics about lost love or other things like that. More modern emo is better like Fall Out Boy, Aiden (screamo, more scream than emo), and My Chemical Romance. They often get mistaken as punk to which they are a sub-genre.
 
I can't really speak for emo because I'm not a listener, but what I really don't appreciate is all that screamo stuff. If wanted to listen to people scream, I could just open my bedroom door. If I wanted them to scream to a rhythm, I could turn on my metronome. If I wanted them to scream with angst and fury, I could throw in my brother sawing at his viola.

I don't have much tolerance either for rap. Anyone can talk quickly. The lyrics aren't generally especially deep either. Many are about violence against women, drugs, and other subject matter I won't refer to. Of course, there is good, well-timed, poetic rap out there (somewhere). Unfortunately, it never gets airplay.

As for country, I don't listen to it too much, but I love hearing it in the morning, on the bus. There is something very awakening about country. It lifts me up. Plus, I love the guitar and the fiddle. While I'm not a country music fan, I don't mind it all that much. What annoys me is catching myself singing Shania Twain songs in public ;)

My music is rock. I don't stick to any particular kind, though I usually avoid metal, sticking to indie for the most part. I really don't have any favorite bands, but I do have favorite songs. Most of the bands I like aren't very big. When a band goes big, they lose that personality, and you lose that sense of indentification and belonging you have with them. Know what I mean?

Reggea, old soul R&B,oldies, the Rock I have no Idea what genre of rock these bands are classified as, so here are some Radiohead, Muse, Nirvana, toole maybe some disturbed, those guys.
 
I was just thinking today what a wide variety of music I like to listen to. I enjoy Michael Buble, L. L. Cool J (but no other rappers, to make that disclaimer, and I don't really see him as a rapper), Ginny Owens, Shania Twain, Yo-Yo Ma, Missy Higgins, Leahy, John Williams, and The Beach Boys. I'll pretty much give anything a chance.
 
I listen to a very wide variety of music as well. My ipod is filled with everything from Billie Holiday to Rob Zombie. The only thing I can't really handle listening to is Classic rock - which I used to love :)mad: ). I shared a cubicle (a TINY cubicle!!) with someone for 3 years who would only listen to classic rock -nothing else. Now hearing it gives me a twitch...:rolleyes:
