Forum favoritism towards fiction

Quite honestly, I don't know many people who read non-fiction. I do on occasion, but they just don't strike me the same way fiction does. I'm more interested in stories than anything, although there are several pieces of non-fiction I liked, but I think only a few people can get into it.

I'm afraid I have to concede the truth of that, no matter how interested I myself am in the non-fiction I read. It's a fact that it has never brought a response when I have mentioned it on other forums. And the books I read are even unheard of, even though I see them out in full view in the bookstores where I buy them. Baffles me, but there it is!

I suppose I would have to say that the type of non-fiction I like is one that tells a story of an event or person. For example A Beautiful Mind the bio of John Nash by Sylvia Nasar. This guy is fascinating, the trials and tribulations and terrible times he went thru.
Or an event such as Hurricane Katrina....The Great Deluge, by Douglas Brinkley.....he covers not only the five days after the storm, but the history of why and how and the history of the city. Ties it all together.

You know as much as I love history, when I took American History in high school, I couldn't stand it. Dry, dry, dry.....uncaring teacher that made it even more boring. OTOH, my Ancient History teacher, made the whole thing come alive and sing. :)

Thank You Mrs. Screen, where ever you are! :)
