You know what they say about not really knowing who people are online... my Russian is a little rusty but I thought Dmitri was a guy's name. Most memorably a particularly unfortunate Karamazov brother.

I look exactly like my avatar. Except with smaller eyes.

I suppose Dmitri not having a photo avatar didn't help me work it out, but I should of looked at her profile, you're so right Meadow.

On this forum you have even less excuse than usual because all you have to do is click on the person's name and it pops up in front of your eyes :D

Dude, that happens to me *all the time*, so you didn't look stupid at all. :) I don't click on profile names all that often myself. I've said and done so many stupid things on this forum yours don't even rate. :D :D

For instance, I had thought Ronny was a guy for a long time (this was a long time ago, Ronny's not a spring chicken in this forum, and neither am I), because I had a colleague called Ronny so I naturally (wrongly!) assumed she was a he. Her avatars are very neutral, so you can't tell there. There was another person here I also got the gender wrong for some time, but I'm blanking now on who it is. Also a long time ago.

I have to confess that I have pretended to be a man simply because if you offer some opinions in some forums you are not taken seriously if you are of the fairer sex.

Polar bears of both sexes have little ears because extremities are vulnerable to frostbite, come-to-stomach eyes to me and if you're a polar bear, snow's part of the gig.

Sorry, I mean Dmitri. I think of her as 'Demi' now cos it helps me remember she's a chick. Though it sorta also makes me think she has a thing for Bruce Willis and that's just not nice so I've gotta stop.

Someone I know in Singapore, who is in the intelligence service, let out that he and his force are a worried lot. It looks like an Enemy of the State is dropping banana peels, which I understand is a capital offence, all over the city. My friend told me the entire force is out to get this man. To me, it looks like diversionary tactics by someone out to destroy Singapore!

Thanks D-Man! I went all the way up to the Canadian north to take this picture, so I'm glad someone appreciates it! I can tell you that it is a girl bear and those eyes she's making are actually come-to-play-in-the-snow eyes.

I don't know what that last picture was. It was the site's default avatar... God knows what the admin were thinking making that the default. :p
 
Two quirks of other forums I belong to-the trolls are people who don't really have any interest in the topic or even theme of the forum in general. They just stagger around, popping up with the most randomly bat crap opinions. The other group are the dog snobs. Not to be confused with THEE Dog Snobs who are actually very entertaining...it's a regular blog, look it up.

There are numerous boards for dog lovers of every breed. The problem comes with the folks who fancy themselves professional dog people. Unlike those of us beneath their superior training methods and food specifications. I refuse to get baited by these people. My mutts are happy, lovable, and dumb as rocks...works for me, works for them.
