good general history of London and Georgian era

can anyone recommend a good general history of London (England) and also of the Georgian period? A light, social history of both preferably!

I've found a few decent reads on the history of ancient Britain and social history of Victorian Britain, but have had trouble finding one for London and the Georgian era.

For a fictional take/history Edward Rutherfurd's London is great, then his Sarum is excellent as well.
