Hi there,

My name is Paula and I'm a translator with a major in Linguistics and Literature (English Philology), who recently has rediscovered her love of books.

I enjoy reading a little bit of everything, really. I don't mind how a book is marketed or classified, because I like learning from as many perspectives as possible. Therefore, I read classics, YA, poetry, plays, non-fiction, graphic novels/comics, etc. I love it when a book has good character development (if applicable), when it makes me reconsider the world around me, and, above all, when it doesn't make me wanna quit reading.

Happy discussion.
Paula. :)

I also love good character development. I try to think of not only people as characters but places and even ideas, and sometimes the developments in those areas can be just as gratifying and wonderful as with people. I also like when I leave a book still thinking and contemplating it. Sometimes I have ideas pop into my head from something I've read or watched a while ago (sometimes years), and I realize how strong the writing (and acting, if applicable) truly had to be to make me remember it so well and so long after I initially engaged with it.

I agree a 100%. Good acting and good writing stays with you for a long time, and makes you want to revisit those worlds. Bad writing can only aspire to cameo appearances (in your memories), and mediocre writing you forget altogether.
