Has technology gone too far?

In Fahrenheit 451, technology has gone as far as it can go. You have talking doors that tell you when someone's coming and " families " living in your walls. Cars go by so fast, there is hardly anytime to see the car or look at the scenery outside. People lives has been made so simple with all this technology, but has technology really gone too far? What do you think?

Really? I don't remember any time machines, cloning, teleporters etc. I'd say there are hundreds, if not thousands, of novels in which technology has gone much further... admittedly few of those are as good as F451. Not to mention that it is starting to sound eerily contemporary in a lot of ways. Big-screen TVs etc.

Has technology really gone too far? What do you think?

Technology can never go to far. It is a tool. Humans often go too far in employing it.

Are books important?

In Fahrenheit 451, books are forbidden and if you are caught with books in your house then it will be burned down. Since there are no books people aren't able to express any other feelings except happiness. They are always in their parlor watching TV and could care less about the world and what is happening around them. This makes their life much more simple. They wouldn't have to care about anything. Comparing Fahrenheit 451 and the real world, do you think books are important or are they just a waste of time? Why?
