have you guys read an e-book

I just got back from Jamaica and it was great to have my Kindle with me while traveling. I finished one book and just moved on to another. I may have not had that luxury had I not had my Kindle along for the trip. Also, I had numerous books to choose from when I finished the current one, and found a book that was more suited to my mood than I would have thought prior to the trip.
 
I got myself a kindle and I really like it. I never thought I'd say this as when they first came out I jumped straight to the conclusion that they wouldn't work and that I wouldn't enjoy reading on a screen. But I saw people using it and I was impressed at how it didn't look like a screen at all. I obviously love my hardcopy books but reading my books through an e-reader has made my travelling a lot more pleasant :)
 
While on vacation I prefer to use my kindle. It doesn't take much space as a 500 page book. The fact that I am able to have different font sizes is also a plus for me.
 
For the last 5 years of my life, I had only read e-books. To the point that I something got a weird feeling when I grab a book in my library and read it in paper. Nostalgia and a sense of belonging, but the e-books had opened so many frontiers, but physically (books that could never been found where I live) and economically (books I couldn't ever had read with my capital).

both are great and if you asked me what would be my favorite: for feeling, the physically one but for space and commodity, the e-book.
 
The ability to sample a book before purchasing it is one of the features that I like about e-books. I don't need to leave my home to go buy a book and I don't have to wait longer than 2 minutes to start reading. Love my kindle
 
The only downside for me in using my Kindle is that it is so simple to buy a book and be reading it within minutes that I can spend quite a bit of money and feel no immediate pain until my credit card bill comes in. Maybe others are more disciplined and can wait it out and see if the book can be borrowed from the library or maybe they are independently wealthy. I'm hoping to become more disciplined! :blink:

My Kindle is with Amazon and our library doesn't deal with Amazon. They do loan out e-books to people who don't have their own which is kind of nice for folks to try them. :)

But I've heard they break easy and people need to replace them frequently. Two minutes can become two months.

I have had my Kindle for nearly 2 years now. Yes, I baby it, but it's been out of the country, to the beach a few times, to the river, camping and it rides with me daily. I have had no issues at all with it. Now, mine is an older model that has the keyboard and is not a Fire or Touch, but I have a neighbor who has a Fire and loves it and has had no issues to date and her son has had a Touch for nearly a year and also has had no problem with it. I have no experience with the Nook, so I don't know how well it is made or if there have been issues with it. Please note that I knock on wood as I type.:)
 
I started reading ebooks in a Palm organizer some 10 years ago. Now I mainly use a Kindle but synch the book to my smartphone and PC as well. Whenever I have 10 free minutes and wherever I am, I reach for the phone or switch to the 'Kindle for PC' window and read a chapter. Also, it's much more comfortable than hefting a 1kg hardbound.

Years ago, I used to tote a paperback in my briefcase. Fortunately, those years are long gone.

The other thing is that I hate throwing books out and there's not an empty cm. in my bookshelves. Ebooks took care of that.

In a simple answer to your question, YES! I read over 100 ebooks a year.
 
E-books have helped greatly especially for travellers like us. I don't have to carry even one bulky book in my luggage as I go but I can read over 100 books on the journey... something I couldn't have done with paperbacks or hardcovers.
 
I have read several ebooks. I actually prefer them on my ipad. I did use a kindle once or twice as well. Depending on the lighting it can become kinda difficult. As the sunlight makes it harder to read the ipad during the daytime. The old kindles used to have a reflection proof screen so it didn't create any glares, but that's not the case anymore. Worth it? Yes. But not if your dream is to read outside consistently. Maybe use both

My 2011 Kindle works very well in bright sunlight, so I am surprised at this comment. I pads and other devices with LCD screens get washed out, but not the e ink reader tech Kindles. I can't wait to try the latest Kindle that should work just as well in low/no light situations, when the existing ones need a table lamp or such, to read them.

I'm 50/50 about this. I like reading novels as hard copies, but like reading short stories and general thinks like cook books as an eBook.

I still love the feel and smell of the physical book, and the accomplishment of closing the last page and reflecting on what I have just read.
