Hello…. again.

I have been away from this site for a few years, and I miss it.

For those that don’t know me (or remember me), I am a retired sailor, I love to cook and to pair meals with the perfect meal, I am a motorcycle enthusiast, I enjoy learning about the Civil War, and I love to read.

I will read Techno thrillers, horror, science fiction, nautical fiction, historical fiction, westerns, general fiction or classical literature; wherever my mood takes me. I miss Ray Bradbury.

I prefer old movies to the new releases because I feel that Hollywood has become so enamored with special effects and 3-D, that they have forgotten how to tell a tale. To make matters worse, they have given up trying to produce something new or fresh in favor of remaking old movies.

Time marches on; perhaps I have begun to grow rigid with outdated opinion?

Welcome back, Robert. The times, they are a'changin here too. :)

Hay, Peder. Mother nature does like to leave her calling card... a little silver at the temples, some gently carved lines around the eyes. Is nothing safe?

Oh man, I thought you were an active lurker all this time......:D Glad to have you back in the fold. Ever read anything by Larry Bond?

No, can't say that I have. Do you have a recommendation?

He is a techno-writer along the lines of Tom Clancy. Supposedly, he worked with Clancy on some of Clancy's best works. Bond wrote Red Phoenix, which is like Red Storm Rising, except that it's about a second war on the Korean peninsula. In light of recent events, I think it might be an excellent read, even if it was written towards the end of the cold war. Vortex is another novel by him that is widely known. I was fortunate enough to pick up both books at a used book sale at a nearby library.

I seem to remember something about his involvement in a game called Harpoon. A Harpoon is an anti-ship missile. Strange that I never got around to reading his material when I was reading so many of Tom Clancy's and Dale Brown's novels.

A second war on the Korean peninsula, you say. With Kim Jong Un leading North Korea, that seems all too possible.
