Hello! Need help with book title.

Hello all. This has been on my mind lately and its driving me nuts. I am looking for the title of a book.

The story line is:
A woman who is married to a doctor gives birth at home to twins. There is something wrong with one of the babies and the doctor orders his assistant to take it away. He tells his wife that she gave birth to only one baby. Meanwhile the assistant takes the baby and raises it as her own.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
