Well, I joined up a few days ago and have been dipping in and out of some of the threads ever since. So thought I'ddo th formal introduction bit:
Why this site?
Read an article in the Saturday Times a few weeks ago recommending it as an alternative source of information on books and I'm always looking for new ideas of what to read so thought I'd check it out, I did and I'm here
What do I read?
Try to have as wide a variety as I can:
Non-fiction -
Work related things on management, sales, general management, HBR etc.
Science and technology - mainly physics, cosmology, poupular science - Brief history of time, the elegant universe spring to mind
Health and Fitness
Autubiography - Usually choose people I admire or particularly interesting historical characters Lance Armsrong, Wellington, Berlioz etc.
and of course fiction -
again I try to vary this although I do have a particular fondness for Fantasy (Tolkien, LeGuin, Gemmel, Holdstock, Hobb).
I try to get through as many of the classics as I can - Dickens, Shakespeare, Faulkner, Hemmingway, Poe,
Contempary authors include Martel, Faulks, Rushdie,
and last but not least - Poetry - particularly lyric powerful poems that transport you. No particular genres or poets I dip in and out whenever time allows - which is not often enough "The hourglass whispers to the lion's roar"
Anyway that's me. I'll speak to you on the forums no doubt or drop me a note.
Cheers.
