Hello!

future man

New Member
Just recently stumbled upon the boards while blindly searching the internet at about 2 in the morning the other day. I'm an avid reader of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, as well as pretty much anything else that gets set on the plate in front of me.

This looks like a really great community and I'm very glad to be here.

welcome to our little corner on the net.
make yourself at home
there are some beers in the freezer
ah! if you bring some soylent green from the future you can leave it next to the fish.

Hi, Future Man! How's things looking in the future?

Welcome to the forum! And watch out for those dastardly penguins!

I can't call him future man or read it without laughing! He sounds like a super hero!

Dramatic female voce: OH MY GOD! The forum is overrun with all kinds of penguins! What shall we do? Who shall save us?

Deep male voice: This is a job for... FUTURE MAN!

*future man saves the day*

Swooning female voice: Why, thank you future man! Without you, our world would be over run with fishy bits and cod heads!

Ha, glad to see you're enjoying it. Sometimes I find myself bellowing it in a superheroish voice and quickly realize the people around me (bus, school, mall) don't quite enjoy it to the extent that I do.

But anyways, thank you all very much for the warm welcome, just further proves what a friendly place this is.

Ah, don't worry about them! Shout it out at the top of your voice... FUTURE MAN!!!!

Glad you are liking the forum :)

Welcome, Future Man! Who's your favorite SF author? I'm an Asimov girl, myself! :D

Cathy
The penguins give me strength! Long live the penguins...

Yeah, that was a part of it :)

In the story ( set in the future ) where two guys pose a question to a vast AI computer. The question: "When all the stars die in the universe, is there any way that we can make them again?" ( That's not exactly what they asked but it was something close :) )

So the computer tells them that it will think about it. Many years in the future and this computer is asked again the same question. the computer is now much more powerful and yet again, it tells them it will think on the question. It has actually been thinking on it since it was asked some 100 years ago.

I won't say any more of the plot because the story is great and do not want to give away anything!

oh okie... did a quick check and i have it here - it's a graphics novel form. The Best of Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction.

ooopsie... think i've veered offtop!

what's your favourite asimov, future man?
