Hi there, im abit stuck with something.. I run a "forum" the main focus of the forum is to get people published...so far the visitors ahvent stayed :( could some of you take a look and see how i could maybe improve what im offering? (the link is in my sig) Thanks :) and thanks to wabbit for the excellent suggestions he's made :)
 
It has a lot of spelling mistakes and bad grammar, which would be fine if the mistakes were made by posters, but there seem to be a lot made by admin. That's the kiss of death.

Also, the format you have there is really not enticing for someone who wants their work to be read. Why not try more of an online magazine format, instead of a forum?

But until you fix the spelling mistakes, you're going to be in a black hole.

Well, if that's the main focus then why do you have so many forums to talk about others' favourite books? As far as I can see you six subforms that have nothing to do with your main focus and only two that do. Do you not see the lack of balance here?

Overall, though, I just don't think it will work.
 
not really :) the main focus is getting people published, but its also about books, I happen to love books and reading, But i see your point so im bumping the publishing section of the forums to the top :), it will work, but only once people are submitting their work and the bigger companys can actually see that their work sells.
 
Their work won't sell until it's published, and if they won't publish till it sells you'll have a problem.

I know, I'm being a nitpicker :p

:D hence "publishing" it in Ebook format and sticking it on ebay.. this is what makes it free...even though it'll take me time to put text into an ebook and set things up to sell the Ebook online.. The forum's free how i put it into ebook format is free putting it on ebay is free....im hoping that this is the way out of that vicious circle...but till people start submitting their work...well the cycle continues as is.
