Help with figuring out a book I read in Primary School

Hey,

I read the sticky up the top but the primary school I attended was quite small so it doesn't have much information on the internet.

What I can remember about this book
- It was a series
- The main characters looked vaguely like this, and they were white.
- One of the female ones wore a golden ring around her ankle
- Another character looked similar to a scare-crow
- In one of the books they rode on little floating/magical clouds
- The author's last name begins with a J, I think

Apart from that I can't remember the title of these books at all. It would be great if anyone could help me!

Thank you in advance,
-Laura

I believe you're looking for "The Moomins" (mumin) by the finland-swedish author Tove Jansson.

There are some really great books in the later part of that series.

Bibliography
(It lacks the first Moomin book, 'Småtrollen och den stora översvämningen' (my translation: The Little Trolls and the Great Flood) but it's not a great loss to miss it.)

My favourite book is 'Moominpappa at Sea' (Pappan och havet), it's probably the most melancholic of them all.

Yes! Thank you so much, that's exactly what I was looking for.

I actually didn't realise these books were written so long ago - I was reading these during the mid-90s at the age of 8 or so - so I guess I didn't know about publishing dates and whatnot.

But yeah, thank you again. I really appreciate your help.

Awww... did you draw this? It's so cute... reminds me of those Neopet things. And I do remember the series.

Aaah!

Haha, yes, I did draw that! In my defence I was drawing it with my mouse in MSN - I have one of those drawing add on things and I was asking a friend if they remembered the Moomintroll series. I guess that explains the shakiness  .
