Ell said:mehastings, what kind of work are you doing?
mehastings said:I work for an ambulance service. I work as both an EMT and a Dispatcher. Tonight I am in Dispatch. I'm not allowed to sleep when I'm dispatching, so I usually read and rove around on the internet. I work nine nights (11P-7A) in a row, the last shift being sixteen hours (3P-7A) long. The last shift starts at 3P on Tuesday (today), so I'm looking forward to a nice long five day weekend (which I have every other week).
honeydevil said:is it hard to work always at night? do you like it?
i love the night.
mehastings said:I do like it. The whole thing started because my boyfriend graduated college a year before me. We both became EMTs in college and wanted to work in that field. I've always been a stay up late and sleep late kind of girl. When he started working overnights I just kind of adjusted to his schedule. After I graduated I wasn't able to work at night right away. I worked a variety of different day shifts and it was SO hard. I'd want to stay up late with Tom on his nights off and would end up getting to work late because I couldn't drag my ass out of bed.
Now, we both work at night, some nights we are even partners. Our whole life is shifted toward sleeping all day, even the dog sleeps late now. Try getting her out of bed in the morning and it's a horror show. We work the same days and have the same days off, so Wednesday we will shift to sleeping at night for our five days off.

25 to 7. Not nearly our worst. Our first game was 44-10, and we lost to a bunch of hairdressers. We're horrible, it's shocking to see how unathletic public safety personnel are.honeydevil said:sounds very cute, how bad did you lose?

honeydevil said:i'm sorry were the hairdressers gay?
mehastings said:I don't know. Their team wasn't very nice and the team's captain has a legal issue with one of the cops on our team, so we didn't exactly socialize. I'm sure there were a lot of hairdresser family members on the team.
