Hi' Can anybody recommend any good Thriller/Suspense books?

Hi,
I'm not into sci-fi though. I loved Intensity by D.Koontz, The Green Mile, by S.King and i've read just about all the James Patterson books.
Any suggestions would be so appreciated! thanks! :)
 
Hello & welcome. I'm not sure if these would be along that line but have you heard of the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffery Deaver? The 1st is The Bone Collector . They're heavy on forensics but I like that type of thing. It's kind of a cross between Sherlock Holmes & Silence of the Lambs.

Hi I've never read that series, but i should like it since 1 of my fav. shows on tv is CSI. Thanks! I will give them a try

Dennis Lehane - Prayers for Rain, Shutter Island
Harlan Coben - Tell No One, Gone for Good, No 2nd Chance
Dan Brown - Angles and Demons, The Da Vinci Code
Michael Crichton - Shere, Timeline, Prey
Clive Cussler - Dirk Pitt novels
Greg Rucka - Keeper, Finder, Smoker, Shooting at Midnight, Critcal Space
 
I loved The Alianist & it's follow up Angel of Darkness . I have another of his that i've yet to read, Killing Time. If he'd write another with the same characters as the other 2 books i'd snarf it up.
 
I second Harlan Coben. In addition to the books named above, he has the Myron Bolitar series. I would just recommend that if you read those, that you try to read them in order and don't read them back to back because the similarities become irritating.
 
Mortal Fear by Greg Iles
One of the best pyschological/suspense novels I've ever read.

The Mermaids Singing by Val McDermid is also excellent.
 
I thought Balefire by Ken Goddard was great, it's about a small town police force in America trying to outsmart a band of terrorists. I don't want to give too much away but it's brilliant, on the edge of the seat kind of read with enough, scientific and forensic elements to make this novel seem very real. I don't know if you can buy it new anymore but it should be at the library maybe.
 
I have just read Mermaids Singing - could anyone explain to me how the title of the book ties in with the story-line - have I missed something? Thanks
 
I've read all of James Patterson's books and these authors are around the same type of books. They are my favorites.

Michael Connelly
Lee Child
John Sandford
 
I don't read much in that genre but I can certainly recommend Robert Harris' books: Archangel is my personal favourite, but Enigma and Fatherland are both worth a read as well.
 
If you like CSI you may like Kathy Reichs' books. The main character, Temperance Brennan, is a forensic anthropologist. The two novels that I have read so far have very detailed forensic scenes, plus some rather gruesome descriptions of bodies but that doesn't detract from the build-up of tension.
 
Also along the lines of CSI, you might want to check out Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series. It's about a Pathologist - gripping stuff :eek:

Read any of Dean Koontz and you can not go wrong. I know i have read just about every one of his books. Try some of his new ones like The Face, or The Doorway To Heaven
 
I don't read much in this genre, but someone recommended "Ice Station" by Matthew Reilly to me, and I loved it. It was the first book I'd ever read that could genuinely be described as "unputdownable". It's got two sequels now: "Area 7" and "Scarecrow".
 
did you hear anything about the new patterson book, london bridges. did you read anything by cornwell. her new new trace is a little slow in the beginning but the tempo picks up later on.

Ice Station is my favourite. Area 7 isn't that good and I havn't read Scarecrow yet. Try Tempel => it's quite good with a new hero although he is a bit reluctant (like: no I don't wanna save the world, I won't do that, ..., Ok let's save the world) :D
