Hi from a new guy, and help please!

Hi everyone,

I wonder if you can help me with a book I read quite a while back, in my commuting (3 or 4 books a week) days.

It's about a group of kids in a small American town. In their summer holiday the town starts getting weird - finally they trace it to malevolent presence at the school so one of the kids steals his Dad's milk tanker, fills it with petrol, crashes it into the school and burns it down.

I thought it was a Peter Straub book but looking through the reviews and synopses on Amazon yesterday none of them looked like the one.

Any suggestions?

could it possibly be this? I dont think so though, but I remember that it had something to do with a sinister school...

No, im afraid not, I searched loads. I even resorted to typing "steals his Dad's milk tanker, fills it with petrol, crashes it into the school and burns it down" into google but, alas, my search provided no results, sorry!
