How quickly do you read?

It really depends on the book content, size of the text and on how busy I am. On average I think that I would read a 500 page book in 3-4 days, reading for a couple of hours each day, or maybe less.

Oh, and I was reading at 489 wpm on that test, with comprehension of 64% (I guess I need to work on that a little...)

If it is a book I am really interested in, I will sound out all the words in my head, and that takes longer. If I just want to get through the book, I will put my finger at the top of the page, and as I lower my finger down the page, I will look at each line and let my brain take in the whole meaning of the line without reading each word in my head. Does anyone else do that?

I found this website earlier where you can test your reading speed. It's quite fun.

btw -- I read at 302 words per minute and my comprehension is 64% (not much, I know, I'm working on it :)).

I'm a slow reader, although that test said I was average. I read 201 wpm and my comprehension was 100%, but that's why I'm slow. I always go back and forwards making sure I get everything right. :p

I read a book of 500 pages in 2 to 3 days if I have no school, and If I like the book. Like now, I'm reading a 200 pages book from 1890(for literature) or something and it's sooo boring that I'm reading it for over a month now, and I'm only at page 77.

Puh, I just did that test and it says I read 179 words a minute and my Comprehension is 73% but that text had annoying formulas and economic terms in it! I don't agree with the results, I definitely read faster than that!

I'd say I was an average speed reader. There's a lot of factors that come into it, and the time it takes to read about comes more down to how often to read as opposed to how fast you read, I'd say.
I always intend to time how many pages I read per hour, but always forget or get interupted. 500 pages would probably take me about 7-10 days depending on how often I read. January this year I was reading about 300 pages a day for the whole month, right now I'm reading that about every two weeks because of work and finding the right material.
There's a whole lot of factors to account for.

It takes me about 3-4 days to read a 500 page book. Of course it could take longer depending on my level of interest and level of difficulty.

Same. Although it takes me about a week to read a 500 pager.

im such a slow reader i swear, only beacuse i lose interest in books FAST. like i was reading da vinchi code and half way throught it stoped (only took me less than a week) then picked it up agian like 6 months later. lol i did the same with angles and demons but it depends on my intersts, i finshed catcher in the rye in 2 days

I read considerably faster than most people, I'm proud to say. Not that I'm bragging - I make up for it by being pants at math

Depends on the book. If it's an easy book to get into, maybe 2-3 days; if it's a hard book to read that requires alot of concentration, then it could take me up to 2 weeks.
