Greetings from the Book Master. :D

Looks like a pretty nifty board you guys have here. Very nice.

Hm.. s'pose I should tell you all a bit about me. Book-wise, I'll probably read anything and everything.. except romances, westerns, and horror. However, if you give me a good historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, or non-fiction book that perks my interest, I'll give it a shot. :)

My name, BookMasterJMV, originates from my first paid job when I was 16 (..four long years ago..) as a shelver at the local library. I used to know every book by its cover and where it was located. Or atleast, in the fiction section. Nowadays, as I've moved from the carts to a Circulation desk job, I still see a lot of books ( ::nods to his evergrowing To Be Read list:: ) but I don't know the stacks quite as well.. though, I'll always be the BookMaster. :p

Let's see.. I live in Henderson, Nevada, United States of America.. just outside of Las Vegas (yes, Sin City itself). My topics of interest are history and religions/mythologies. I'm proud to be a Ringer/Tolkienist, a Ravenclaw, and a conservative Republican (Guiliani-Rice 2008 w00t!). Spend most of my life in a library. Not currently, at the moment, going to school -- some day, however, I hope to get a master's degree in library science and become a reference librarian.

Think that's about it.

Questions? Reply. :)

Welcome BookMasterJMV! It's great to have a circulation specialist from a library here. Enjoy! :)

By the way, you're sort of a librarian, aren't you?

Thanks there, Infinity.

About your question.. not "officially", no. I'm considered a library assistant.

A librarian has to have the official degree and can be the only one to do certain things (such as sign papers for inter-library loans and work on collection development).

We assistants do most of the work, however. :p

Welcome to the forum BookMaster. This was probably the best member introduction I have read so far. I must admit mine was pretty boring :D
When I was in school, we had this librarian who used to know all the locations of the books. She never refered to the entry book to see which book is where. You tell her the name of the book and she used to say "Fourth cupboard, second shelf." Or "XYZ has taken it. It should be back next week!" I was amazed by her!
And now to have you on this forum is really a pleasure :)
Welcome aboard :)

Glad to be here, sanyuja. :) Once you get attached to certain books, you KNOW when they're gone.

Thank you, Ice. Question for you.. how is that Last Kingdom? Bernard Cornwell's a pretty good author.. that one looked interesting.. not sure if I want to add it to my list though. Let me know. :D

Perhaps certain parts of Nevada are deserted. However, the city that I live in is one of the fastest growing cities in the States.

Really do wish people would keep non-desert plants out of the desert. Darn allergies have been acting up as of late.

Nope.. just silly people that drag their plants that live well in more moist climates to the desert and require more water than old Lake Mead can supply. to these "master-planned communities" with their golf courses.

Anywho.. </rant>

Welcome and have a great time!!

oh and by the way, better plans they don't belong there than garbage!! or idiots!! :D

Welcome to the forum that knits you a jumper if you are good!

Are you related to Grand Master Flash?!

Hope you enjoy it here :)
