I read this book a very long time ago. What I remember about it was that the month of May was a little girl who traveled through the year meeting all the other months.

That sounds familiar. Though I may be thinking about a fairy tale were the months were young men?

I read a short story by Neil Gaiman where all the months were friends or siblings or somthing. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

I'm almost positive it's "The Story Of May" by Mordicai Gerstein

May travels through the year, meeting each month, and her Father December.
