I knew I had a lot of books but now I know how many.

As part of my upcoming move, I had to do an inventory and determine replacement value of everything for insurance purposes. That included books.

Grand total for books is 1,463 plus close to 300 music scores.

Yikes.

The crazy thing is that if I had to guesstimate that I would said 700-800.

I'm afraid to even try to inventory ours. You'd think the basement would be warmer than it is, with all those books adding R value to the walls.

Do you organize them in a particular way? I prefer mine to be organized by genre, that is typically what I aim to do though an errant book or two will find itself "misplaced" when someone I know comes around to thumb through a book again and not put it back where it belongs. ;)

I honestly don't know how many I have, you have made me curious. Perhaps I'll engage in that task for my "spring cleaning" exercise.

damn, that's a lot of books. I only have two small shelfs. But whenever i'm in house with tons, if always seems to have a nicer feel to it. I really held back using the word "energy".

Truly impressive. I'm not even close to reaching the thousands range. I'd say I probably own 300 books. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less.

All of what? The books I have? Easily considering I have gone through most of them already.

Several years ago there were some articles, I believe in the NYT regarding book-savers. One that stands out in my mind is a couple that owned their apartment [in NYC], and it was totally lined with bookshelves, hallways, bedrooms, living room, kitchen....and stacks everywhere. Their count was at just about 20,000 books.
Now that's a collection! :D

We're at about a quarter of that at present, but have aspirations.

5,000 is still damn impressive!
