I knew I had a lot of books but now I know how many.

I have an intense desire to go home and start counting my books...though I'm not sure I really want to know how many that I have.

Check out Nicola Basbanes A Gentle Madness and Among the Gently Mad for some cool annecdotes about people who are serious bibliophiles. Also A Splendor of Letters. All are really great reads for book lovers. I also rate Ian C. Ellis's book Book Finds quite highly for book collecting, buying and selling. I think its 3rd edition is its latest.

This thread reminded me of this

YouTube video about a HUGE book collection.

I can't remember how I came upon it - maybe here? Anyways, I think it's very cool.

This site makes me feel unworthy. I once saw a thread titled, "post pics of your library". I thought I would like to do it, but then I saw the pics and immediately realized what a piker I am. In all fairness though, I've lost/lent out/thrown out many dozens of books. I even had some confiscated on board a US navy destroyer when I was hiding them in the overhead wiring runs.

I've thought about buying armloads of cheap used books just to stuff my shelves. Would that be considered cheating?

Does this mean I should not post pics? :whistling:

I think you know the answer to that. ;)

Somewhere here at BAR I (I think it was me) posted a link to a U.S. based company that sells leather-bound books by the linear foot so people can stock their bookcases. If I recall correctly, the books weren't even in English.
