I Need A Book

I've finished all my books anyone know of a good fantasy book for a 13 year old guy ????? i liked "His dark materials" Trilogy By Phillip pullman and "The Old Kingdom" Trilogy by Garth Nix any ideas ????????? :confused:
 
How about a book written by like a 14 year old? I read Eragon by Christopher Paolini late last year and it was very good. It's the first of a trilogy I believe and the second book is due out later this year.
 
I suggest trying:

'The Prydain Chronicles' by Lloyd Alexander ('The Book of Three' is the first in the series).

'The brothers Lionheart' (Bröderna Lejonhjärta) by Astrid Lindgren.
 
I have a son your age who also enjoys Garth Nix and Phillip Pulman. He just read Magyk by Angie Sage and liked it. We read the first 3 Cirque du Freak books by Darren Shan and really enjoyed them as well.

oh god no, not that book! I almost ripped that book apart! It's sooo much a like the belgarion and mallorean by david eddings, it's sickening!
I can't give examples because it are the details that are exactly a like. You can also recognize some Feist in it.

The boy has writing talent but absolutely no imagination, he kinda stole all his idea's.

I'd suggest you read the belgarion by eddings, because before his fantasy books, he wrote children books, and while the belgarion is for adults, it's very "light" to read because he is used to it.
 
his dark materials was pretty good...13 is old enough to read whatever you like, in my opinion..when i was 13 i liked tolkien, the amber books,those wretched david eddings books, heinlein
 
If you're looking for teen fantasy (or science fiction) books, you'll find monthly suggestions at www.sff.tigerheron.com. There are at least four teen books listed each month and you can check the archives for more ideas.
 
The following Young Adult fantasy books are recommended by me:

The Wind on Fire trilogy - William Nicholson
Ice/Storm/Thaw trilogy - Stephen Bowkett
Mortal Engines / Predator's Gold - Philip Reeve (I think this is also going to be a trilogy)
Warriors of Alavna / Warriors of Camlann - NM Browne (trilogy planned too!)
The Bartimaeus Trilogy - Jonathan Stroud

sorry it isn't the main subject, but could someone tell me more about: "The Old Kingdom" Trilogy by Garth Nix , 'cause I don't know it :)

My bad... I thought the book was good, but I guess everyone didn't think so. I also read all of Terry Brooks stuff. His story lines don't drag on endlessly and they are quick reads for the most part.

The Sword of Shannara is a good series for someone your age. Though it has many similiarities to Lord Of The Rings it is still a well written book and I enjoyed it. As the series goes on I think it is getting better. They are around 600 page books and are 8-10 of them (cant remember exact number). The sword of Shannara is a trilogy and there are other books by him that take place in the same land but at a different time.

A song of Ice and Fire is a good series as well but it is a bit more complicated with many different plot lines at once
 
I've just finished Basilisk by N M Browne, and it was an excellent Young Adult book. I highly recommend it. :)
 
The Truckers Trilogy by Terry Pratchett - they are not Discworld - apologies to those millions who already knew that.

The Carpet People also by Terry Prachett. Another fantasy but not Discworld. Intelligent 13 year-olds will enjoy the lateral thinking as well as get much of the adult-irony and societal parody in the books.

hmm well i'd suggest anythng by Caiseal Mor or even the merlin/talisin collection by stephen lawhead..
