Check out the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan or the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett.

You might try the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins or The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Clare also has a new series called Infernal Devices which I have yet to read, but it looks interesting.

I would recommend The Mortal Instrument Series by Cassandra Clare as Anne said, they are fab books and very gripping! there's 5 at the moment and 6 is to be leased in 2014. I'm just on book 5 now and I've loved them all!

I also read the Beautiful Creatures series by Kami Garia and Margaret Sthol which were great (movie was awful though!)

Hey Lisa - resurrecting these ancient recommendation threads is kind of pointless - the OP is loooong gone :) Why not rather start a discussion on the books - and tell us what you liked about them ie do a bit of a review. Or you can add a review to the 'Just Read' thread.
