Enthusiastic yes-votes from here for the works of Salinger I have read - Catcher, Franny & Zooey, Banannafish.
I think people should read and reread them, say, every 10 or 20 years through their lives for different kinds of appreciation that one's experience can bring.
I enjoyed them immensely when I first came to them as an adult.

I love Catcher in the Rye. One of my favorite books about growing up and if the language it used was controversial (it's not) back in the day, I'm glad I didn't live in that conservative society.
