Hey all,
so here is my first post.. I have to say - I'm impressed that there is a community with thousands (tens of thousands? Hundreds?) of people who discuss books. I always suspected there might be one on the web, but never really looked for it until earlier today.
I guess I ought to post a little bit about myself here: I'm a college student in the University of Nevada (not the upgraded community college in Las Vegas, but the original University in Reno ), studying political science and international affairs (with emphasis on Asia). I speak fluent Russian, a bit of Spanish and German, am currently studying Japanese, and decided to try to learn some Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin, to be precise) and improve my Spanish. Speaking of which, could you recommend any good textbooks I could use? I also happen to have a strong improbability field so I often end up in the middle of something fun (or weird - depends) and have a wild luck when itcomes to raffles and such. My favorite authors are Chuck Palahniuk and Terry Pratchett, but I'm always open to new things.
