Kylie Chan's Dark Heavens

Has anyone else read Kylie Chan's Dark Heavens trilogy: White Tiger, Red Phoenix, Blue Dragon. I personally love them. For those who haven't read them, here's the blurb from the first novel, White Tiger:

Emma Donahoe has just started her new job as nanny to Simone, the daughter of John Chen, a very rich Hong Kong businessman. She understands that Simone may be a target for kidnappers but she does not expect to be drawn into a world of martial arts, magic and extreme danger, where both gods and demons can exist in the mortal domain.

When John and his American bodyguard Leo, teach Emma their particular style of martial arts, they begind to realise that Emma herself is more than she seems.

I love the origionality of this story, the way Chinese mythology had been imbued with modern day Hong Kong, and the interesting characters. A very good read in my opinion.

I will definintely look for these novels. I live in Asia and am martial arts instructor for local police in Thailand and so always like to read mysteries about these subjects. Perhaps you would like novels by Barry Eisler and Eric Lustbader who also deal with these topics.

Some others you might like are Eliot Pattison novels about former Chinese detective who helps monks in Tibet. These books are very accurate and include much about mysticism and Buddhism and have lots of action. Also Chinese-American woman named Lisa See wrote some very good detective novels about female Chinese detective who marries American. For martial arts action though, Barry Eisler is number one. He has blackbelt in judo and is former CIA.

Tried to find these books at used bookstore but they did not have any, which surprised me as any books about Asia are usually very easy to find here what with this being Asia. perhaps I will order it from Amazon, but have never done this as shipping is expensive.

I've read all of the Dark Trilogy and two of the Journey to Wudang series. I'm just waiting for the third instalment to hit the book stores.

They're a great read, and I usually don't sleep until I've finished the book.

I love those books that are hard to put down ;)

Yay. Another fan. I've only read the first Journey to Wudang - I didn't realise the next one had come out yet. Exciting. Now I have another book to add to my reading list.
