In May:
In theatres:
Iron Man - loved it. My 3rd fave Marvel film. Stay after the credits.
Speed Racer - they need to remove all the dialogue. Lots of eye candy... it was pretty to look at it. That's about it.
At home:
Donnie Darko (director's cut) - hadn't seen the whole thing since 2002. Decided to check it out in preparation for the sequel (S. Darko: S. Darko (2009)).

Most recently:
In theatres:
Indiana Jones - Crystal Skull: I was entertained. Didn't care for the chase and fight scenes. Not a fan of Shia LaBeouf, but he was okay Cate Blanchett is smokin' as usual. Karen Allen (Marion) looks amazing!

The Strangers: The first movie ever to make me consider leaving early. And NOT because it was bad. From all the previews, you know what's going to happen, you know how it will end... but it built up so much anxiety that it made me so uncomfortable. I watched it with my boyfriend and his sister and they felt the same way. It was damn good. Must see.

At home:
There Will Be Blood: It was amazing. Lewis is awesome. I had no idea what it was about. But I think I like No Country for Old Men more.

An American Crime: such a sad story. Catherine Keener is amazing and I can't believe how skinny Ellen Page was! She was so great too.

When I first saw the trailer for The Strangers, I thought it was an american remake of the French thriller Ils(Them), which came out recently, but apparently it isn't, even though they have the exact same plot.

An American Crime is a like a Disney film compared to the film version of The Girl Next Door. I liked them both though.

Between the synopsis of this movie and the retitling of the remakes of A Tale Of Two Sisters and [Rec], I suppose they've learned their lesson: if they advertise that a movie is a remake, people are just going to compare it to the original and discover that the US version sucks. Better to just rip the story off and keep it quiet.

Yeah, I read about Ils (I saw at it Best Buy yesterday, thought about getting it). On Aintitcool.com, they did make a reference to both Ils & Funny Games (both the US remake and the original). I want to see both now.

When I was looking up An American Crime on Wikipedia, they mentioned The Girl Next Door. You've also mentioned the novel here on BaR. Something I'd check out in the future. I had read about the Likens case awhile ago and the movie was indeed not as horrific as I thought it would be (but terrible nonetheless).

Spider-Man 3. For the most part I really liked it. I could have done without the silly relationship problems and dancing scenes, but the special effects were great and it was just a fun movie.

The Uninvited. Because horror fans can't be trusted to remember titles with more than two words in them.
I hope Michael Bay is producing!

I didn't think Ils was all that great. It's been awhile since I saw the original Funny Games. I remember catching it on Sundance years ago.

Silly movie. Or movies... Those are my least favorite Marvel films. I think the only reason why I actually paid theater price to see that was because I like Topher Grace and Bryce Dallas Howard. I didn't care for the first or second either, but you know, gotta watch all of 'em. :p

Ooh... do you remember if you liked it? I want to see the new one. I love Naomi Watts & Tim Roth.

I don't think I liked it too much from what I can remember. I do remember the bad guys breaking the fourth wall and talking directly to the camera in a few scenes.

I think my last film was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (of couse I watched it in German). I liked it because it ties in with the other 3 Indiana Jones movies. It fits into the typical schema.

M. Night

The Happening. Yikes. It's better than Lady in the Water (everything is), but worse than the other Shyamalan films.
I was into it... but that ending. Damn, when Wahlberg and Deschanel
get split up (he's in the house, she's in a shed), everything is horrible from that point on. I disliked the conversation they were having and I really didn't like it when they decided to meet in the middle.
It was all very unpleasant.

Here's a review from Ain't It Cool News: Harry says, 'This Ain't HAPPENING' -- Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

Funny Games

Funny Games (US version).
It was not pleasing at all. I prefer Strangers over this.
Michael Pitt and his buddy are weird. Tim Roth looks so old. Naomi Watts' acting was great as usual.
2.5/5

Vantage Point-Tolerable (if far from great) up until a poorly directed ending. Good cast, though.

Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins-Another case of good cast and mediocre material.

Resident Evil: Extinction-Surprisingly good. I liked it much better than the previous RE film.

The Eye
Didn't really like it, sometimes they made a joke out of the story. IMO No bad story, though.

I always like to give comments to multiple groups of people when I can and this is one of those times. The most recent movie I watched was The Water Horse: The Legend of the Deep hereafter referred to as TWHTLOTD.

To the adults: TWHTLOTD is average in the way any ordinary MLB game in early June is average. What I mean is that it provides light entertainment that you don't feel you need to watch every little moment to get all this movie has to offer. Grab a beer, do some laundry, go get the mail but don't feel you need to watch TWHTLOTD from beginning to end.

To the not-adults-yet: TWHTLOTD is great fun. My daughter really enjoyed it, especially getting the chance to practice the new and interesting word "Crusoe." The monster is capricious but lovable and you can rest assured nothing untoward becomes of him. And Crusoe does in fact live in your backyard pool.
I think I enjoyed more than my daughter.

Saw The Eye was ok . not too scary to check the doors and windows.

I really want to see Iron Man and waiting for Harold and Kumar-escape from Guatanamo Bay to come out on DVD.

We have been watching alot of movies lately... HANCOCK, GET-SMART, KUNGFU-PANDA, INDIANA JONES, SEX AND THE CITY, THE HULK.... As you can see, all over the board. All were pretty much worth it.

I just saw this one recently as well. The friends I was watching it with dispersed about 30 minutes into it because it was "uncomfortable". I stomached it out, but it wasn't very satisfying and left me feeling really horrible.

I watched Hard Candy the other day. Wasn't one of my favorites, but I enjoyed it all the same.
