David Harwood is a journalist with a small town newspaper. He, his wife and 4 year old son are going on an outing to an amusement park. His wife, Jan, buys the tickets online and they set off on a Saturday for a day of fun. When they reach the park and are heading for the gate Jan suddenly remembers that she has left her backpack containing the sandwiches and drinks in the car and says she'd better go back and get it. She hands the tickets to David, one adult, one child and keeps one for herself. She tells him she'll catch up with him inside. She comes back and is watching over their little boy who has fallen asleep while David goes to pick up tickets for one of the rides. When he comes back she's hysterical saying she just looked away for a minute and someone took their son and his stroller. A frantic search for the boy ensues and they both go off in different directions looking for son, Ethan, when David spots the child's stroller being pushed by a man. He catches up to the man who takes off running and leaves the child unharmed and still sleeping. David then heads back to look for Jan and can't find her. She has disappeared and that's when the mystery begins. A really good plot with lots of suspense, police involvement and corruption within the local council involving bribes which David had been investigating before their outing.
