Was there a movie of Rose Madder? I think it may have been called something else. Bunch of people in a haunted house or something?

^No, you must be thinking of Rose Red, based on The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer. I don't think that the book was written by King, although there's definately a connection between him and Rose Red.

Ah yes - i think it was called Rose Red. Connection?

Yus - I think the full title of the movie is Stephen King's Rose Red, but I don't know why it's called that, since he didn't write the book that it was based on.

OIC. How odd. Yes, a bit confusing. Interesting though. Might have to do some snooping on this here interweb to see what's what.:)

He might not have written it, but it was probably based on his ideas or he had something to do with the film-making.

I wanted to ask those of you who have read The Stand, which version did you read? I have the "restored" edition but I'm wondering if its even worth the extra 100 pages or so.

I've only ever read the extended/uncut version, so I can't really compare the two, but I think it has a fair bit more detail (new character even?) than the original.

I'm new here, but I'm pretty sure Stephen King wrote (and possibly produced) Rose Red for television. The book was written by a ghost writer.

My favorite King books?

The Stand (of course)
The Long Walk
Desperation & Regulators
Ballad of the Flexible Bullet
Hearts in Atlantis

I actually love em all, except Geralds Game (ick)

Desperation was fantastic. I recall getting swept up by the story and caring about many of the main characters. I don't know if it's a favorite but I do think Gerald's Game is sorely underrated. I'd rather read that again than The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon or Lisey's Story.

And to clarify, Stephen King wrote the script for the miniseries Rose Red. Ridley Pearson wrote the tie-in novel The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer.

Cell was great! Yeah right. That novel was really bad.

I want them to do a film on The Eyes of the Dragon.

Standouts, in my opinion, are:

It
The Shining
The Stand

I also really enjoyed Bag of Bones, but I haven't read much of his 'newer' stuff since I gave up on Insomnia.

my favourite are

though he is not my favourite writer ,i like some of his novels they are

1)The Shining
2)Carrie
3)Pet Semetary

Pet Semetary is a good horror fiction..

hey all if you want to scare than never before read this book. This book will chill your blood. It may be King's most disturbing work. Forget the cheesy movie. This novel will scare the hell out of you. it is one of my all-time favorites.

That would be ...

The Stand, IT and Salem's Lot :) I enjoyed all three books thoroughly although The Stand is like terribly long >.<
