OK folks, the pairings have been made and Private Messages have been sent out to the participants.

What happens next:

Recommedners: Based on the information the particpants were sent, recommend a book or two that you think your person may enjoy. Try and have the recommendations sent out by Aug 20 or so.


Recommendees: You have until the end of November to read the book that has been recommended to you and post in this thread the following information:

  • what book was recommended?
  • did you finish the book? If not, why not. (there is no shame for not finishing)
  • did you like it?
  • would you be interested in reading more of that genre/author?


That's it!


If this goes over well then we will take a small break until Feb 2011 then start again on a quarterly basis.
 
Sent my recommendation and have requested the book that was sent to me through the library. I expect it may come the early part of next week. That gives me time to finish some of my current reads.

I got what looks like a great recommendation. I'm really looking forward to reading it. I have asked my recommendee some questions because I'm not sure whether to suggest Neanderthal or Homo sapiens literature.

I've noticed nobody is specifying the type of recommendation they sent or received. Are we supposed to keep it hush hush, Sparks? By the way, thank you for arranging this. Do you have a sideline arranging marriages, too?
 
I didn't know whether it was worth mentioning. I recommended several historical mysteries, most taking place in medieval Europe.

If you want to post what you recommended and what was recommended to you, I don't see any harm in that.

I also got a couple of good recommendations, and will read the second first. My 'victim' reads a lot of fantasy, but said she would be interested in trying a mystery, so I recommended a favorite Golden Age mystery by Tey. Hope she enjoys it!

Just waiting on Adele to send me another recommendation.

Also wondering if joderu95 is happy with the book I recommended to her.
