Long Shot but help please

[Long Shot]

Bit of a long shot, but I still would like to ask if anybody has any idea what book this is.. Sci-Fi fantasy about an engineer who gets sent back in time to Poland (I think) and ends up fighting and beating the Mongols. I thought it was titled “The Reluctant Engineer”, but I can’t find anything on it and as I read the book a few years ago, I just can’t seem to remember more than I liked the series (~3 books).

A “long shot” but if any have an idea please speak up
