Im trying to remember the authors/titles of two books i read as a child...

The first one i think is part of a series...its about a girl who goes to live with some relatives on a large country estate or farm. There is an uncle there who is in a wheelchair. There are two boys, one is the girl's cousin, and the other is the stable boy (i think his name is Will). The cousin ends up wanting to marry the girl, but she's in love with the stable boy. Theres a fight between the cousin and the stable boy. The girls ends up with the stable boy, but i think something goes wrong. At some point, she gets pregnant. Im pretty sure there are a few books in the series.

The second book im looking for is about a deaf boy who i think has a dog. The book is about how he copes with school and his family, but i really don't remember that much about it.

Hope someone can help please! :)

The first book sounds very much like 'Flambards' by K.M. Peyton :)

Christina is sent to live with her crippled uncle and two cousins in the country. It is set at the turn of the century and there are three books in the series. She is supposed to marry Mark (the elder cousin). The younger cousin is called Will and the stable boy is Dick - does this sound familiar? I won't tell you more of the plot now otherwise it will include spoilers.

You're welcome :) I loved the books when I was younger and bought the dvd of the tv series when it was released (though you do have to excuse the terrible acting - it was made in 1978)

The three books are:

Flambards
The Edge of the Cloud
Flambards in Summer

I really liked them too, though ive always stayed away from the tv version because i didnt want the books spoiled in my mind. There was another book in the series, Flambards Divided. Will be going out this week to get them and relive my childhood! Nostalgia's a wonderful thing ;)

The tv version isn't that bad if you can get past the acting :p

Flambards Divided was written long after the original trilogy (12 years after I think) as K. M. Peyton wasn't happy with how the trilogy ended. I'm divided on this one as they seem to be fairly out of character in my mind.
