Looking for a novel that I once read, near the beginning of the novel a women bites/cuts off the head of a chicken and it runs around [headless]. Sorry it's so vague--any suggestions would be appreciated...

It wasn't Alice Walker's "Possessing the Secret of Joy" was it? That's the only novel i can think of that I have read which involved something similar....?

There's a similar scene (but ONLY a scene) in the second book of the Laurell K. Hamilton Anita Blake novels. It's called "The Laughing Corpse".
