Its meant for young teens, and its about this girl and her little brother. They go into this shop, and the owner puts a stamp on the boys hand, and its a stamp of the owners face. No matter how much they scrub it, it doesn't come off. It just slowly fades into his skin, and the more it fades, the boy gets sicker and sicker, its like it is stealing his life force and it makes the owner of the shop stronger.
Theres an older boy at the girls school, and I want to say his name is Rick. He is a wizard and somehow they heal the little boy.
The book is set in either Australia or New Zealand, and the older boy is a prefect at their school.
