There is a lot of overlap between autobiography and memoir. I recommend Russell Baker's Growing Up. He also wrote a second book (don't remember the title) which continues the story.Must be written in contemporary American English and narrated from his/her *personal* points of view...
Baa Baa Black Sheep by Gregory Boyington. Just finished this one. The beginning is a little slow, but once you get into it it's really good. Really good book.
I have a signed copy of that. Haven't read it yet.
Signed copy?! Can I have it?
if you haven't already read it, I think Ben Franklin's autobiography should be on everyone's required-reading list.
Scar Tissue is a great read. Anthony Kiedis the chilli pepper frontman writes about drugs, women, sex and his childhood. Its amazing how many times he relapsed after he vowed he would stop. The most amazing thing is how he was clean for five years, but after a dentist gave him Morphine he went and got loaded and that started the chain all over. I bought Eric Claptons Autobiography a couple of days ago, i am yet to begin because i was reading Scar Tissue, it should be a intresting read. My final recomendation is 'The Wolf of Wall Street, the book is written by Jordan Belfort, he tells of his drug addiction and how he would rake in so much money and blow it just as quickly, you should enjoy that book aswell.
