Looking for good classics

I am interested in reading some really good classics. Recently I got 1984 and am looking forward to reading it. I also enjoyed Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. So does anyone know some good classics that are the size of Moby Dick ;-) and are relatively easy/interesting to read.

Cormac McCarthy - Blood Meridian (not that easy to read??)my favorite book!
Vladimir Nabokov - Lolita
Pat Frank - Alas Babylon

And chiangaifalcon - I didn't think of Journey to the Center of the Earth. I will look into that one!

If you are looking to read a classic than read Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. the paperback is 1500 pages! Great-Great novel

I actually have that one! My mom got it at Goodwill I believe. Lucky! It's now on my reading list!

OK...Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is good...also Persuasion by Jane Austen if you like lots of gossiping and fainting ladies, Oroonoko is a nice short story by Aphra Behn. Anne Radcliffe's A Sicilian Romance makes for easy/fun reading too though it is rather old-fashioned.
