Anyone has gotten their mittens on this baby yet? I've seen it in stores already, and will probably get it over the weekend. This guy packs 4 DVDs, 2 for the movie itself and the other 2 for exclusive goodies. Can't wait! :)

Unfortunately, I hear that Saruman's scene in the Shire at the end is *not* even in in extended edition.

I got it for Xmas but don't know when I'm going to find enough time to watch it! Buy it online if you can - you can get it for half price at a couple of places (£17.49) :)

Woohoo for Special Editions!! :D

Am going to convince Ice to watch all three in one go, should only take about 10 hours! :)

Would it really matter? I suppose this is sacrilegious to LOTK fans but I tried to read the books and, despite the crapness of the first one, I gave up, and was happier for it. This is probably the only instance that I'd rather watch a film adaptation than read the original book. Tolkien was a great linguist but I don't think he was a writer.

I just bought the extended version set of all 3. I think I'll spend all weekend watching them. I also bought Garden State (yea!)

It's on my To-Buy-When-I-Have-Some-Money list.

Another Dark Tower reader eh? How are you liking it Gallagher?

Can anyone tell me what they have added to this version? Just so I have something to look forward to.

You don't say... :) I was thinking about what things they have added not just how much..

Then I couldn't say as I've not seen the original release or the extended release and don't know the story at all. :)

The only added bits that I can remember at the moment are: Saruman's part, extra scenes with the dead pirates and Aragorn and extra scenes on the paths of the dead (or whatever they were called). :)

They also added scenes to the main battle and a part where you see Eowyn and Faromir develop their relationship. (In the original, I always wondered how she got over Aragorn so quickly and ended up with Faromir in that last scene on the battlements.)
