LOTR:ROTK Special Edition DVD Set

Rumour has it that my girlfriend has gotten me the massive boxset (which includes all three extended editions and lots of, well, stuff) for my birthday!

So, woo hoo!!

Cheers

Just watched it. Hmmm, it was a good enough film. There were points where scenes consisted of people speaking nonsensical fantasy maxims in hushed voices or as voiceovers - I though, maybe, that somebody had swapped my DVD for David Lynch's Dune.

And, after all that "adventure", I see absolutely no point for Legolas or Gimli to even be part of the story - they did nothing throughout the trilogy. Maybe Sam and Frodo should have got it on - it looked that way for such a long time.

And the armies of men should really get some sort of ranking system - they listen to any old guy shouting 'fire!' whenever they have their bows drawn.

At least those stupid tree things weren't in it - apart from about 20 secs at the start.

Can anyone tell me what they have added to this version? Just so I have something to look forward to.

Quite a bit and most of it actually adds to the story of the film. I was particularly fond of the bit with the Mouth of Sauron which gave me the eebee jeebies.

I've seen the set - it's bloody brilliant. In-law's got it, and I got to caress it for a bit. The documentaries in the extra discs are really something...

She gave it to me today (my birthday's about two weeks away), and you're right, it's bloody marvellous! It looks stunning next to my fully illustrated hardcover edition of the books (which, incidentally, she gave me for my birthday two years ago - oh how I love her).

This friday I will be watching all three movies (extended editions) with a bunch of friends.

Cheers

This is probably the only instance that I'd rather watch a film adaptation than read the original book.

Hey, Stewie, does that include The Da Vinci Code ;)

Because the Hobbits are hibernating (thus making hunting difficult), and Galadriel said Grey Havens Shipping take forever to get here.
