McCain picks VP

I hope the Hillary supporters who were leaning toward voting for McCain will think twice now he has a VP who's a strident social conservative. Truly, are they so keen to punish Obama that they'll run the risk of letting President Palin pick a couple of Supreme Court justices in her own image?

Also, between the wife and the vp choice, I think he's actually running for the mayor of Milfton. Or maybe Cougartown.

Whenever there was a debate about "experience" flying around among the candidates, my first thought always came back to wondering if there really was something that could prepare you for being president.

My favorite description of her was mentioned in one of those viewer letters on CNN where they called her a "Barbie doll VP". It amuses me to no end for some odd reason.

Leader in a time of war. Washington was a great President. Eisenhower turned out to be pretty good. Ditto for JFK. Then again, Grant was pretty much a dud.

I think the choice is strictly done to pander to women voters, more specifically, the Hillary voters who aren't so thrilled about Obama.

That is what I was thinking to start with and now that I've seen her I think it was done to pander to male voters. Afterall, if she were to become VP it would make for a powerful fantasy for millions of redneck constituents.

LOL-Well, she was a sports reporter.:whistling::lol:I bet her knowledge of football is beyond that of most people.:whistling:

I believe she'll turn out to be the GOP female version of Dan Quayle. It's now come out that she praised the public safety officer that she fired for not going after her ex brother in law. To top it off, her 17 year old daughter is pregnant. Add "family values" right next to "experience counts" that can't be used against Obama in this election.:lol:

Having Dan Quayle on the ticket didn't stop George HW Bush winning. I don't think these scandals will make much difference to the election.

Book lovers will be horrified to read this tidbit about her.

But two days ago, less than a week since many of us heard her name for the first time, there she was, in Jessamyn West’s librarian.net blog. West was writing about a Time magazine story that asked whether Palin had expressed an interest in censoring books in the town library while she was mayor of Wasilla.

The Time story suggests that Palin may have threatened to fire the town librarian for saying that censorship would be unacceptable, but subsequent news stories (such as a recent posting by the Boston Herald) don’t seem to support this notion. According to the Herald, Palin did ask the librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, questions about censorship and Emmons responded by saying that any form of censorship would be entirely inappropriate.

Palin later attempted to fire Emmons (along with other public officials) but there is no evidence that the attempt to remove Emmons was related to the censorship question.

"Hockey mom" has some really regressive views:sad:

Maybe she could bring in aerial hunting licences for librarians. A bounty of $1000 for every hair bun.

Would only work in Alaska..Kansas librarians have formed a coalition and banned hair buns in all Kansas libraries. Patron wearing buns get the 'look' and are closely watched til they take the hint and leave.(I have long hair, and sometimes resort to 'bunning' it just to get it off my neck):whistling:
