MP3,JukeBox or Ipod?

I won an I-Pod mini in a raffle last year. It's well cool:cool:

The only problem with it was the colour; it's pink. But I'm not proud; I can live with it:rolleyes:

Well. Listen to a RECORD with a decent turntable and amp, and headphones and get back to me about my attitude.
 
A little difficult on the train; bus; tube; etc. The main reasons for these portable players. Also the I-Pod's a pretty good portable Hard disc as well.;)

As for the ipod being a good portable hd - well, as long as you're not using it to listen to music on...:D
 
mp3 player definetly. Not an ipod, though, just out of spite because everyone has one.
 
Go for an mp3 player. Ipods are crap. Really, just do a bit of research and you will find it's true.

Reasons:

1) they cost more then comprative players for no other reason than they are "Ipods" You can get a player that does exactly the same thing or better for less money.

2) They sound crap.

3) The batteries last around a year and then you have to pay Apple about $£60 for a replacment...

4) Most mp3 players come with some free stuff such as carry cases and so on. You have to pay and pay through the nose for any extras with an Ipod.

They are crap. Don't do it.

I have a Creative Labs Muvo 1gig with I am very happy with. I owned an Iriver hd120 with a 20gig hard drive but found I didnt have THAT much music to listen to and it's no hassle to just change the music when you get home. Let's face it, how long are you going to listen to the thing? My muvo can store around 16 albums, are you even going to listen to a fraction of that in a day? Even if you go on holiday are you really going to listen to THAT much music? Think carefully before buying :)

I have always been happy with players by Creative Labs, I say go with them.
 
I'm not disagreeing with anything apart from the bit about sounding crap.
They are over hyped and if I hadn't been given mine I wouldn't have bought one; or any of the others. Saying that; they are pretty cool to operate. I do think the sound reproduction is awesome though.
 
Guess the sound is a very subjective thing :)

But I do agree with you that the Ipod has a great navigation system.

I bought my wife the Creative Muvo 256MB early this year, and yes, I agree that Creative's not too bad. :) Yours is the one that has a USB port on it, right?

I agree with all your reasons for choosing a player other than an iPod, except for the crap sounds part. That's because I can't tell the difference if the sound if crap or not! :)

iPods don't do voice recording, nor does it have a radio, or radio recording. Comparative players do this and more. Plus the Muvo I got my wife doubles as a thumbdrive, and allows easy transfer for songs.

I had a Philips Dukebox, 1.5GB. I found the interface annoying and software updates were fiddly and clashed with each other. As I have been such a nice boy all year, my parents got me the new Video iPod, which is great. One problem is that it scratches really easily. Apple sell cases for £25ish, but eBay has great ones for about £7-8

Only one? I've got thousands spanning all sorts of music. :)

Wabbit, 16 albums on an MP3 player sounds annoyingly crap. I don't actually have a portable MP3 player because I read whilst travelling but I wouldn't want storage that low were I to get one; the thought of having to change and rotate albums on a regular basis doesn't appeal.
 
use an mp3 flash drive that is 1 gb and I love it. I can just plug and play and I don't need to use special software like you do with an ipod. Also I can change the battery using regular batteries any time I need to, I don't have to charge it specially. Plus it bugs me that itunes uses its own proprietary format. All my stuff is wma or mp3, and when I installed itunes on my pc just to look at it, it tried to convert all the wma to something else, which is just unnecessary. And the itunes software seemed to take a little too much initiative for my taste. I like total control and flexibility over my fiels, so for me a plug and play flash drive was the answer. I listen to non-music on it too.
