From what I understand from an absinth website, it is illegal to sell absinth in the States, but not illegal to consume it. That's why I've never happened upon it.

As far as I am aware both are legal in the UK, though not common.

doesn't it taste like licorice? it's illegal in canada as well so my only experience with it is watching gary oldman seduce winona with it in dracula, and the green fairy in moulin rouge.

thanks and yeah it tastes kinda like licorice, but only if you drink it with water. i only drink it with coke.
