Mystery "Pig" Book

I was looking for a book I remember reading when I was a child. I thought it had something about pigs flying in the title, but after a long and brutal search for it, I'm not really even sure. What I do remember about it, apart from loving it and wanting my own miniature pig figurine, was that a little girl had a miniature pig figurine that came to life, though I don't remember why or how...anyway, if anyone has read such a book, I would appreciate knowing the title...thanks a bunch!

How long ago did you last have this book in your hands? Was the copy you had old-looking then? Was it a picture book or did it have chapters? Is there a chance it is still in print? These are some questions I used to locate a book I remembered as a "solid brown -covered library book with Indian stories." Abebooks is a great place to hunt for old books..

I read this book when I was in third or fourth grade, so about fourteen years ago...It was a chapter book, probably about 200 pages...I don't remember what was on the cover, but it was a picture of some sort...and I think, and I really emphasize the think, that the title started, "The Day..."

All that comes to mind is The Glass Menagerie... or something similar. I had a Scholastic version of it when I was in grade school... I remember the picture was the girl placing the glass figurines on the cover, as if the cover were a window glass, and the shelf was in the window...

Somehow, though, it doesn't sound quite right. And I think her favorite figurine might have been a unicorn... so that puts it further off track. But I thought I'd mention it, just in case...
