If enough BARflys get interested by November, we might want to have a NaNo forum where each of us can start a thread for posting our daily work, sharing our stress,
That sounds like a good idea.

To protect the novels, however, it would have to be off the web, for members only. Can that be done here?
No idea, I seriously doubt it though.

My daughter just asked me if I was going to write a book in a month this year, and I hadn't really given it any thought. But I thought I'd ask if anyone here is planning to do this?

Yep I'm going to attempt it. Are you still up for it ABC?
Anyone else?

EDIT: Mari re the private forum thing, if it's not possible here then we could sign up for a free aok forum and keep it members only??

I'm in. Second year in a row. Here is my page over there, though it's very basic:

Read the FAQ and the other encouraging materials. Browse the forum to see how much fun and pain people are getting ready to have.

thanks Mari. I'm here:http://www.nanowrimo.org/userinfo.php?uid=130622 - although there isn't really anything there  .
I am starting to worry a little because I'm still not sure what I'll be writing. Oh well, at least it'll be an interesting month.

I'm excited, I'm excited, I'm excited!

Er...eh-heh...

Nothing to see here, folks. Just go ahead back to what you were doing.

Best wishes to all you NaNoWriMo 2006 participants! Break a pencil..or whatever we're supposed to tell writers as they're starting a book!

It's that time of the year again. Actually, from the time I am writing this, for those of us in Eastern Standard Time US, we are less then two hours away. Is anyone joining in this year?

My brother-in-law has talked about doing it for a few years, but never took the plunge. He decided to this year and was looking for encouragement or someone to ride along with him. I decided to ride along. I doubt I will make it. And I doubt what come up with will be worth trying to edit later, but what the heck!

So! This is finally the year to at least register and then see what happens after that.

I am sooo glad I happened to see this thread -- I think.
