I'm looking for a book something that will just drag me into the story, detail, etc. i have read Da Vinci code, angels and demons (loved it), A clockwork orange (fav), Harry Potter series,Lord of the rings.

But what I'm really looking for now is something with, a good plot and detail in the murders or way the characters accomplish their objectives. its kind of hard to actually describe what I'm looking for.....something whit a really clever, smart, bad guy, or something with secret agents?? i don't know!, i don't want any monsters or stuff...

....i think it's easier just to look at the books i read and recommend me something...
:(

Check out some of Kurt Vonnegut's work.

Also, I think you would like the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. The characters are perfect, you really get into their heads.

The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis might interest you, though it is a Christian book, it's still enjoyable and inspiring for non-Christians.

wow thx for the info

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, looks very cool

if any one has more suggestions i would greatly appreciate it

I wonder if you would like Harlan Coben's books? He is recommended by your Dan Brown, and if you like books that you can't put down and that keep you wondering what will happen, you will like Coben. Gone For Good is definitely my favorite of his books, and Tell No One is a close 2nd.

Years ago I picked up one of Coben's books in a sale, and I liked it so much I immediately went out and bought every other book he had written. I think I've outgrown him now, which is really a shame, since I used to really, really love his books. Let me know what you think... since he might not be interesting to you at all.

How about books by Val McDermid - superior psychological thrillers; Dennis Lehane; Jeffrey Deaver; and John Connolly. All are great story-tellers as welll as good writers.

I also read dan browns work and wanted something similar. The librarian suggested james rollins(map of boneswas really good if you liked da vinci code)also douglas preston and lincoln child books(only read brimstone and dance of death but both were pretty good)also jim butchers novels (which is apparently been turned into a series on sky one called `the dresden files' )

Ted Dekker. New fiction writer, soon-to-be juggernaut, stories come and go at a breath taking pace. His novel Thr3e won the 2004 fiction of the year awar (or something), so that would be a nice place to start off with him. If you're more into fantasy, his circle trilogoy - Black, Red, and then White - is an even better drop off point.
