Need a new VAMPIRE book

Ok I've read the following

The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice
The Hunger & The last Vampire by Whitley Strieber
Fevre Dream by George Martin
I am ledgend by Richard Matheson
Vampire the Masquerade: Clan Novels, Dark Ages Novels & Trilogies by White Wolf Publishing

I just started reading Necorscope by Brian Lumley and am enjoying it so far, however I dont want to read the second one immediatly after, as I like to put a book between sequals (hope that makes sense) its just one of my things.

Im not a big fan of hunter style books, I prefer Vampire the masquerade type books. Books about vampires interacting with other vampires.

Anyone got any suggestions????

Also I remember reading some where that a Whitley Strieber book was made into a movie, can anyone shed some light??

You should read 'The Darren Shan Saga'. The Author (Darren Shan... Might not be his real name) writes like it is real. Great read. There are 11 books in the series so far, more coming soon. The books are quite short, I read 3 of them in 2 days.

'The Hunger' was made into a movie starring Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie and Susan Sarandon. I don't know how much it follows the book but it's one of my favourite movies.

Blood and Gold

Blood and Gold by Anne Rice.
Tells you of the life of Marius all the way to ancient rome.
Don´t get Blackwood Farm, its more of a ghost story.

Hmmm, a few quick reads that I enjoyed a lot was Amelia Atwater-Rhodes' Demon in my View and In the Forests of the Night.

They're short, fairly simple, and nowhere near as 'advanced' a Anne Rice's masterpieces, but they're good and entertaining. It took me only a few hours to read 'Demon', so that should give you a clue that they're not overly tough lol

you should try "I Am Dracula" by C. Dean Andersson... this is a version of Dracula that i found very interesting... it's written from the perspective of vlad the impaler himself and is sort of an autobiography... very entertaining and a quick read

Have you checked out Maggie Shayne's Wings in the Night series? You can read them in any order. While they are also romance novels, they are also vampire, so. I have only read Edge of Twilight, it was good.

Desperately need some Vampire suggestions..

I read the Twilight series and loved it but I'm looking for something geared more towards adults. The only problem is I'm a little picky. I've read a couple of the Anne Rice books but what I'd really like if any one has suggestions is a book that is based around Vampires and humans (i.e vampires living in modern society etc.) The only reason I'm not all over Anne Rice is because it's set so far back in time.
I looked into some I found on the web like L.A Banks and Vampire Kisses etc but they all seem a little too young for me or involve a little too much sci-fi. Any suggestions would be great!

Let The Right One In by John A Lindqvist has children as the protagonists, but it's far from a children's book. One of the best vampire novels to come out in recent years.

Or if you want something a bit more blood-n-other-various-body-fluids, how about Poppy Brite's Lost Souls?

Some I've enjoyed:

Afterage by Yvonne Navarro -- it's set in modern times. Vampires have taken over and humans are kept caged, for feeding.

They Thirst by Robert McCammon

Salem's Lot by Stephen King

Fevre Dream by George R. R. Martin -- the setting is the late 1800's so it doesn't fit your timeline, but it's probably the best vampire novel I've ever read

If you like a little humor with your horror, try Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore.

I Am Legend -- Richard Matheson (the movie starring Will Smith came from this book, but the book is much, much better).

Try Vamped by David Sosnowski and Fat White Vampire Blues by Andrew Fox. They're as far from the lush, gothic Anne Rice-type stories as you can get (the latter even pokes fun at Rice and her works). I also second the Lost Souls and Salem's Lot recommendations.

If you want to get hooked on a series, try The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher and The Hollows by Kim Harrison. Both series of books feature creatures other than vampires so if you don't mind reading about, say, werewolves and fairies as well as vamps you should do fine. I'd also recommend the Anita Blake novels by Laurell K. Hamilton but the quality of writing fluctuates after the early installments.

The quality of the Anita Blake books doesn't so much fluctuate as plummet after the early installments.

Brian Lumleys Necroscope series is one of my favorite vamp series but I kind of doubt its what your looking for. His vamps are almost all hard core evil although you do end up liking a couple of them.
