hello. i am looking for a place to discuss books that i've read. i wish there was a place, (maybe here?) where i could find various books with on-going discussions. thanks, i am a busy mom of 4, work part-time and attend grad school. recently finished, life of pi and 1/2 way through 1776. planning to read saving fish from drowning, amy tan and girl in landscape, jonathan lethem. parts of his motherless brooklyn were very funny. :)

hi, yes, i'm actually at the end right now when he is being interviewed by the chinese guys. i love the description of the tiger, throughout the book. i could also feel how much he cared for richard parker. i googled the book and found outthat the author got in trouble for plagarism but the other author dropped charges after speaking with the author of life of pi. (sorry, forgot name). i want to reread the part where he is visited by a human as he was dying. what did you like about the book? elena

hi, i do love this book too. especially the references to nature (the algae island) and the interaction between the animals. i'm also vegetarian so it was very interesting to watch pi go from being vegetarian to sucking marrow. i couldn't listen to some of the descriptions, like when he cut up the turtle. but, the humor was outstanding, e.g. when pi threw a fish to rp and his jaw snapped shut, or when rp looks at the hoop that falls quizically (sp?). what did you think about the book? halfway throug the book, i dragged my kids to the zoo to watch the tigers. they're magnificent animals don't you think? thakns for replying to my post. happy thansgiving. elena
