I am English and live in England, UK. I am 72 years old and read novels and non-fiction and read lots of my spare time. I am at present reading Julian Barnes new novely "Arthur and George"
I used to like most the good 'ole yarn books by Neville Schute. The last good 'ole yarn I read was "Morgan's Run" by Collen McCullock. Not finding many of these today I read a lot of American and English Crime stories some of which are good novels also. I have read and enjoyed, as an adult rather than force fed at school, all the good 19th century novels and I try all the best sellers of today and am often disappointed. I enjoyed very much Angela Levi's "Small Island"

I would be happy to have a literary pen pal via email from any country so as to swap notes.

Welcome to the forum, concord6! I read Julian Barnes (though not the new one yet) and crime fiction, too. I certainly haven't read and probably never will read all the good 19th century novels; which do you particularly recommend?

Welcome, concord6! Didn't Schute write On the Beach? What else did he write that you especially enjoyed? And just who are your favorite mystery writers?

Edit:

Ah, you're already finding your way around just fine. It appears that you've possibly landed (pun intended) in the right place. ;)
