one more guy who can't find his book

When I was in high school I checked out this pair of books from the school library. I don't really remember much about the second one, but I'm pretty good with the first. The big plot point was that a wizard or sorceror or something like that promised this prince he would bring him some warriors to help him regain his throne. The wizard transported a tank and its crew from an ambush in Vietnam. I don't remember many other big details, but I do remember the soldiers fighting a dragon. In the end, the wizard sent them back to Vietnam. The only thing I really remember about the second book is that one of the soldiers decided to come back to this other world. He became friends with a berserker, and when the berserker was killed he became a berserker as well. Thats about all I remember about it. If anyone can help me with this, I'd really appreciate it.

I began looking for this because it sounds like something i would like and now that i found it its going on my reading list!

The books are by Brian Daley and the first book in the series is called "The Doomfarers of Coramonde."

Sounds really neat!
