please help!

i read this one book years ago, but i forgot what was the title of it. i also forgot the author. (yeah this is gonna be hard....) anyways i could tell you what it is about. it's about this girl whose brother's life energy is being sucked by some old man who stamped him. so then the girl go outs to talk to this one guy of which she is convinced that he is witch. so long story short she becomes a witch and stamps the old man. her brother recovers. and that's basically it. oh and if it helps, she doesn't have a father. if you could please help that'd be great! =]
